LOW temperatures have been affecting the Chilean blueberry crop, as prolonged frosts registered in 13 growing districts in the centre-southern part of the country are expected to push production down in those areas by over 20% – although the impact is said to be lower on a national scale.

The areas hit by frost account for just over 29% of total acreage devoted to blueberries; production there is expected to decrease 5 000 tonnes, according to the Chilean Blueberry Committee.
