Southern Specialties, a grower, importer, processor and shipper of a variety of specialty products grown in Central America, South America, Mexico, Canada and the United States, is gearing up for a bountiful blueberry season out of British Columbia.
Southern Specialties has been shipping blueberries from the region for over 10 years. The company is a year-round shipper of blueberries from most growing regions, and the British Columbia deal winds up North American production before moving to South America.
The blueberries are available in the company’s popular “Southern Selects” label in both full pint and 18-ounce clamshells. “Southern Selects” brand berries are ideal for retail, club stores and foodservice distributors.
“I have just returned from the fields,” Martin Maldonado, Southern Specialties’ category manager for berries, said in a press release. “The crop promises to be excellent with great color, bloom and flavor.”
Varieties include Duke and Elliott, as well as others.
The company will ship from Abbotsford, BC, and Pompano Beach, FL.
Southern Specialties is based in Pompano Beach and has facilities in McAllen, TX, and Los Angeles.
