From November 11th to 20th, a representative of the Health Services Department of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) of the US visited two blueberries packing plants in Concordia, province of Entre Ríos, reported the National Service of Food And Agriculture Health and Quality (Senasa in Spanish).inspection

This time, accompanied by staff of the Entre Ríos Regional Center of SENASA, the Consumer Safety officer, Selina Mata, verified the good manufacturing practices (GMP) in two blueberries packing plants, and also checked the facilities and received information about the activities developed to preserve the product’s innocuousness and quality.

The FDA representative received information about the mandatory enrolment and/or re-enrolment requirements of the packages and the activities developed by Senasa as regards agriculture and food innocuousness and quality.

During the meeting, Mata explained the importance of knowing the production and packing process of the fruits to be exported to her country and highlighted the interaction of the participants in the blueberries chains, of the public and private sector, which confer reliability on the final result of said integrated work.

Between January and September this year, Argentina exported over five thousand tons of blueberries certified by the Senasa to the US.
