Without a doubt, the members of the Blueberry International Organization (IBO) could not have chosen a better host for the next IBO Summit than Peru. And it is that the Andean country is getting closer to being crowned as a leader in exports of blueberries from the Southern Hemisphere, growing year by year both in volume and in planted hectares, and reaching in this 2019-2020 season the 78 thousand tons.

Luis Miguel Vegas, ProArándanos manager

With the challenging task of having everything ready and willing to celebrate a successful IBO Summit next August, the organizers of the summit began working from the minute they were confirmed to host the biggest event in the industry, Luis Miguel Vegas, ProArandanos manager says.

“For several months we have been working in the organization with the support of one of the most recognized agencies in the country. We are very excited to receive visitors from all over the world and show them our industry. Visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy an event very complete, which will include presentations with the latest trends, networking opportunities with people from all over the world, exhibitions of a large number of sponsors, as well as visits to the most important fields in Trujillo, ” said Vegas.

The city of Trujillo was not chosen at random since the entire history of the Peruvian blueberry industry is born there.

“Trujillo is the cradle of blueberries in Peru, and is the capital of the region (La Libertad) that concentrates the largest number of hectares of blueberries in the country. It is a region with a very rich culture, and we all know how is the gastronomy, offering the visitor a lot of attractions. It is also a city that has the necessary services and infrastructure to host an event of this magnitude”, said the ProArándanos manager.

On the surprises that the organization is preparing for the event, Vegas was able to say that: “we want to provide our visitors with an incredible experience and that is why we are working on different fronts to achieve it. The participants will taste the best of our cuisine, enjoy typical shows during the welcome dinner, tours to different fields, we have also been working with a travel agency who will help visitors to coordinate pre and post event tourist tours, both in Trujillo and in different parts of Peru, and also for companions during the days of the summit. “

Blue fever begins to rise

Luis Miguel Vegas tells us that there has been a lot of enthusiasm on the part of the companies for being part of the event, either as sponsors or attendees.

“I have had the opportunity to talk about the event with contacts from different countries and everyone wants to come to Peru to get to know the industry closely. For some years Peru has been occupying an important space in the industry and we are in the eyes of the world. Nobody wants to miss the summit. ”
